Background and overview
From 1990, transverse seating immediately inside the doors of 117 series
used on the rapid services of JR Takarazuka line was converted to longitudinal
seating in order to increase the capacity of the cars and make boarding
and alighting easier and they were classified into -300 subseries. This
helped to reduce the problem of rush hour trains being delayed due to the
time needed for passengers to board and alight. Straps and handrails are
also fitted near the longitudinal bench seating. Their livery was changed
into white with green striping.
Latest operation status
117-300 series are now used on the ordinary services of Kosei and Kusatsu
lines. |
