305 series are electric multiple unit (EMU) trains type developed by JR Kyushu in order to replace superannuated 103-1500 series EMU.
305 series EMU features the double-skin aluminum construction incorporated
into the vehicle design for light weight achieving both silent cabin room
and lower cost. Cab ends were constructed by steel in order to secure strength. 4 out of 6 cars are powered with AC traction motors rated at 150kW, giving high acceleration performance rated at 3.5 km/h/s. Fully enclosed permanent-magnet synchronous traction motors (PMSM) are used to reduce environmental noise and reduce power consumption by approximately 5% compared with asynchronous motors. The permanent magnet part is samarium cobalt magnet compared with former PMSM featuring rare earth magnets.
Traction systems are 3-level AVAF inverter on axle basis adopting IGBT (Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor). 305 series feature the electric commanding brake with regenerative brake. Moha305 car is fitted with two PS402K single-arm current collectors.
Bogies, DT408K/TR408K adopt the bolster-less air suspension, and their journal box supporting system is axle arm type.
Seating is longitudinal throughout. 305 series are equipped with semi-automatic
side doors. Passengers can open or close doors manually by pushing buttons.
Large liquid-crystal display screens are used for providing passenger information,
and LED lighting is used throughout. As for the device of driving cab,
one handle master controller operated by the left hand was adopted. 305
series are compatible with automatic train operation (ATO) used on the
Fukuoka Subway tracks, and are also equipped for conductor-less operation.
Kuha305 vehicles are equipped with a universal access toilet.
305 series EMU trains are used on through services between Nishi-Karatsu
the Chikuhi Line and Fukuokak?k? on the Kuko Line operated by the Fukuoka
City Transportation Bureau. |
