Background and overview
203 series vehicles built from 1985 are introduced some changes for cost reduction and classified into -100 sub-series.

Car body
Couplers between married pair motored cars are changed into drawbar. Although ventilators of 203-0 series are made of FRP, those of 203-100 series are made of galvannealed steel sheet.

Bogies
203-100 series feature bolsterless bogies, DT50A/TR235A, in order to reduce cost and realize light weight.

Traction unit
Traction motors are changed into MT60A, discontinuing a terminal box.

Operations and withdrawal
Although a total 9 sets of 203-100 series were built and had been used on the interrunning services of Joban line and Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line along with 203-0 series, all vehicles were withdrawn by the displacement to E233-2000 series in 2011.
