Background and overview
JR West modified five 6-car sets and three 4-car sets of 225-0 series in order to displace 113 series EMU and 221 series EMU used on the rapid services of JR Takarazuka line in 2012. Their performance of maximum service speed and acceleration is restricted to match that of 223-6000 series sets for multiple working with 223-6000 series.
Car body
They have two orange stripes on the front gangway doors between the headlight clusters and hinged doors at the cab in order to distinguish different performance from 225-0 series brothers.
Traction unit and ancillary equipments
Their traction system, WPC15A-G1, employing Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) controls two PG (Pulse Generator) sensor-less asynchronous motors, WMT106A-G2, with a power output of 270kW. Their traction system featuring 2 level Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) with maximum service speed at 120/km and acceleration at 2.1 km/h/s is integrated with the auxiliary power supply unit with a power output of 75kVA.
Modifications
The prominent anti-fall plates on the front ends were began to be fitted from 2015.
Operations
225-6000 series commenced the rapid services and the Tanbaji rapid services on JR Takarazuka line in March 2012. They are now used on Tanbaji rapid services, rapid services and regional rapid services on JR Takarazuka line. |
