Background and overview
JR Central developed 313-1700 series in 2006. Three 3-car sets were delivered
in order to displace 115 series vehicles used on "Misuzu" rapid
services linking Iida and Nagano
.
Car body
The noticeable difference over previous 313-1500 series is the inclusion of employing sliding doors which can be operated manually by pushing the buttons fitted beside the door for cold district, anti-fall plates between vehicles excepting the cab end, full-colour LED indicators, headlights employing projector type high-Intensity discharge (HID) lamp, and new air conditioners, C-AU715, using R407C refrigerant.
Bogies
Motored bogies are changed into C-DT63B and trailer bogies are C-TR251A, featuring light weight bolster-less secondary air suspension.
Traction unit and ancillary equipments
Class moha313-1700 vehicles are equipped with both a motored bogie and
a trailer bogie to make same quantity of powered axles and trailer axles
in a 3-car set. Thus, powered end vehicles, class kumoha313-1700, are equipped
with a 3-step Variable-frequency drive (VFD) traction system, C-CS37A,
featuring Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) and controlling four
asynchronous traction motors, C-MT66C, with a power output of 185kW on
truck basis. This traction system is integrated with the auxiliary power
supply unit with a power output of 150kVA. In case of the auxiliary power
supply unit failure, one VFD unit for traction motor drive can switch to
supply electricity as the backup auxiliary power supply unit. On the other
hand, powered intermediate vehicles, class moha313-1700, are equipped with
a traction system, C-CS38A, controlling two traction motors. Powered end
vehicles are also equipped with a single arm type current pickup, C-PS27B,
on their roof. Trailer end vehicles and intermediate vehicles are equipped
with a motor driven air compressor, C-C1000ML, under their floor. 313-1700
series feature the electric commanding brake with mixed regenerative-dynamic
braking against low possibility of regeneration and holding brake, featuring
brake control of trailer priority and electric braking to zero speed.
Accommodation
Seating accommodation consists of 2+2 abreast switchable transverse seating
with 875mm seating pitch with movable headrest keeping upright, transverse
bucket seating bays next to the doorway, and longitudinal seating at the
end of the passenger saloon. They adopt free stop roller blinds. Their
lighting cover differs from former 313 series in being made of the glass
fibre. The air conditioning duct is fitted above the ceiling in order to
improve interior design and the outlets of cool air are slit shape. A LED
display for providing passenger information, and a door chime are fitted
above the door header of the sliding doors. Straps were fitted throughout
their body. Trailer end cars, class kuha312-400, are equipped with a universal
access style toilet employing an automatic wide sliding door, which can
be operated manually by pushing the buttons, and a chemical holding tank.
Operations
313-1700 series have used on rapid and ordinary services of Chuo, Iida and Shinonoi lines from 2006. |
