Background and overview
Mizushima Seaside Railway in Kurashiki, Okayama pref. introduced DD200 Bo-Bo wheel arrangement diesel-electric locomotive for use on freight services in order to replace a superannuated class DD70 diesel-hydraulic locomotive. This locomotive has some differences over class DD200-0 introduced by JR Freight in having no icicle cutter fitted above the windscreens and wider middle windscreen at the 2nd end, and is classified into -600 subclass.
A DD200-601 was delivered in 2021 and has used on container freight services linking JR Sanyo line and Mizushima main line.
