In 1990, JR Shikoku delivered mass production type of 2000 series diesel
multiple unit (DMU) trains. Mass produntion type of 2000 series differ
from TSE in a number of ways. Visually, gangwayed cab of type 2100 were
changed into standard type. Type 2000 vehicles include 1st class accommodation
in half of one car. A train name indicator screen is fitted in font of
the end cars. Automatic tight lock couplers used on 2000 series TSE were
changed into close contact couplers with automatic jumper couplers. Video
monitors are discontinued.
Some vehicles are applied Anpanman characters to the interior and exterior.
In 1990, 2000 series DMU trains entered the "Shiokaze" and "Nampu" intercity services, displacing the Kiha181 series DMU and Kiha185 series DMU. After electrifying the Yosan line, 2000 series DMU were delivered to the intercity services in of JR Shikoku's unelectrified lines. |
