JR East developed E233-3000 series EMU to provide additional capacity for the long-distance suburban services of the TokaidoThe 2-level IGBT AVAF inverter, SC90, controls 8 traction motors, which are silent AC 3-phase asynchronous motors rate at 140kW. The brake system is the electric command brake featuring holding brake system. Increased number of motored cars gives a maximum service speed of 120km/h and a maximum acceleration performance of 3.0km/h/s. A service acceleration performance is now 2.3km/h/s. line in 2007. There are 10-car formations and 5-car formations. The Tokyo side end car of 10-car formation and the Atami end car of 5-car formation are equipped with the automatic jumper coupler. 10-car formation include two bilevel trailer cars of having 1st class accommodation. MohaE233-3000 and MohaE233-3600 have the second reserve current collector.
Standard-class cars have longitudinal seating with dark blue moquette seat
covers. Cars 1, 2, 9, 10, 14, and 15 include transverse 4-person seating
bays. The door opening equipment features the liner motor drive. Passengers
can open or close doors manually by pushing buttons. The both end cars
of 10-car formations and a Atami side end car of 5-car formations are equipped
with the universal access toilets. Passenger accommodation of the 1st class
features the rotatable reclining seating and the card readers for paying
1st class fee are fitted above the each seating.
E233 series are equipped with bolster-less air spring bogies, DT71/TR255. Yaw dampers are fitted to ensure smooth ride characteristics at high speed.
E233-3000 series EMU were introduced in order to replace 211 series EMU
used on the long-distance suburban services of the he Tohoku line, the
Takasaki line and the Tokaido line from 2011. These batches differ from
the first production units in having the additional toilet in car 6 and
moving the position of MohaE233-3000 having the second reserve current
collector. The traction system of E233-3000 series EMU built from 2012
were changed into SC98. |
