In 2014, JR East developed E233-6000 series electric multiple unit (EMU)
trains in order to replace 205 series EMU used on the Yokohama line commuter
services.
Their formation consists of 4 motored vehicles and 4 trailer vehicles,
based on E233-7000 series EMU used on the Haikyo and Kawagoe lines commuter
services. Intermediate cars, Moha E233-6000, are equipped with a backup
current collector. All vehicles are equipped with 4 pairs of doors on each
side of the vehicles unlike 205 series EMU.
Traction systems consist of the 2-level AVAF inverter featuring Intelligent
Power Module (IPM). E233-7000 series feature the electric commanding brake
with regenerative brake.
Passenger accommodation is cantilever type longitudinal bench seating.
17" wide liquid-crystal display screens are used for providing passenger
information, and LED lighting is used throughout.
E233-6000 series are used on the commuter and rapid services of the Yokohama line and Negishi line. |
