Background and overview
JR Kyushu had a plan to deliver 9 additional 813 series vehicles to Fukuoka
region. However, JR Kyushu had to change the traction system manufactured
before caused by stopping supply GTO thyristor which the traction system
of exiting 813 series built before employed. Therefore, newly built 813
series vehicles are adopted the new traction system consisting of a 3-level
converter employing Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) and a 2-level
Variable-frequency drive (VFD) employing IGBT, and classified into -1000
subseries. 813-1000 series include class moha813-1000 powered intermediate
vehicles and class kuha812-1000 trailer end vehicles which were newly designed
for 813-1000 series. 3 three-car sets consisting of 1 powered vehicle and
2 trailer vehicles were delivered in 2005.
Car body
They have 2950mm wide body, incorporating unpainted light weight stainless
steel construction. Bodies are unpainted excepting red painted sliding
doors and the end section. Anti-fall plates between vehicles are also introduced
excepting the cab end. hey are equipped with three 1300mm wide double-leaf
automatic sliding doors on each side of the vehicles. Fixed and drop windows
featuring green tinted heat ray absorbing tempered glass. They are equipped
with an air conditioner, AU408KB rated at 42,000kcal/h on their roof. No
ventilators are fitted on the roof.
Bogies
Motored bogies are DT403K and trailer bogies are TR403K, featuring bolster-less
secondary air suspension, corn-shaped multilayered rubber spring journal
supporting system, and the single link traction device. Conical roller
bearings and yaw dampers are adopted to ensure smooth ride characteristics
even at 120km/h. Their bogie employing smaller 810mm diameter wheels realizes
to lower their floor level. Twin Disc (TD) flexible joint employing deflecting
plates made of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is applied for power
transmission device. The gear ratio is 6.53. Motored bogies employ the
single tread brake device, and trailer bogies employ both single disk brake
device and single tread brake device.
Traction unit and ancillary equipments
Class moha813-1000 vehicles are equipped with 2 traction systems, PC402K,
consisting of a 3-level converter employing Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor
(IGBT) and a 2-level Variable-frequency drive (VFD) employing IGBT, and
each traction system controls 2 AC asynchronous traction motors, MT401KA,
with a power output of 150kW since PC402K employed 815 series, 817 series,
and 883 series featuring that the ratio of motored vehicle to trailer vehicle
is one to one doesn't have enough capacity to control traction motors for
3-car train set consisting of 1 powered vehicle and 2 trailer vehicles
instead of former 813 series having the traction system employing GTO thyristor.
Class moha813-1000 vehicles are also equipped with a traction transformer,
TM407K, featuring natural air cooling with a power output of 1580kV under
their floor and a single-arm current pickup, PS401K, on their roof. A waveform
shaping filter and an amorphous core for the prevention of higher harmonics
inductive interference and noise are fitted between the traction transformer
and the traction converter for an electromagnetic induction fault measure.
Trailer end vehicles, class kuha813-1000, are equipped with a motor-driven
reciprocating air compressor, MH410K-C1000ML, under their floor. Trailer
end vehicles, class kuha812-1000, are also equipped with an ancillary power
supply unit, SC402K, with a power output of 15kVA under their floor. They
feature the electric commanding brake with regenerative brake and holding
brake, featuring brake control of trailer priority.
Accommodation
Seating accommodation consists of switchable transverse seating with 910mm
seating pitch and transverse bucket seating bays at the ends of vehicles.
Roller blinds are gotten rid of by introducing heat absorbent windowpane.
Class kuha813-1000 vehicles are equipped with a universal access toilet
and a wheel chair space. All vehicles are equipped with cross flow air
blowers on their ceiling. As for the device of driving cab, the control
desk of the driver's cab is equipped with a one handle master controller
operated by the left hand.
Modification
Additional equipments for the start of conductor-less operation on Nippo
line between Kokura and Nakatsu were fitted in 2009. Two of three 813-1000
series trains sets were repainted in silver to redeploy for the services
of Chikuhou and Sasaguri (Fukuhoku Yutaka) line(s). Remaining 1 train set
used on Kagoshima rapid and regional services was reclassified into -3000
subseries to distinguish them from other sets in the fleet modified for
driver only operation having external security cameras and seating removement
to increase riding capacity in March 2022.
Operations
813-1000 series entered the rapid and the regional services of Kagoshima
line in Fukuoka region in 2005. They also entered the regional services
on Nippo line in 2009. Finally, some were transferred to rapid and regional
services on Chikuhou and Sasaguri (Fukuhoku Yutaka) line(s) in 2015. |
