Background and overview
JR Central developed 211-6000 series featuring single unit system in order
to deliver to Gotenba line for the additional capacity. Three 2-car sets
consisting of one powered vehicle and one trailer vehicle were delivered
to Shizuoka depot in 1990.
Car body
A left windscreen is expanded below to provide sufficient passenger's view property. 211-6000 series are equipped with two inverter-control air conditioners, C-AU711D-G1. They feature a low roof section where the current collector is fitted to reduce upper structure clearance for current pickup. Loudspeakers fitted on each side of the body in order to provide guidance broadcast for passengers waiting at a station. Traditional destination rollsigns are fitted on the side of their body. End cars are equipped with the automatic jumper coupler to ease rush-up operations.
Bogies
Their bogies are C-DT56/C-TR241 featuring bolster-less air suspension and corn-shaped multilayered rubber spring, preparing anti-yaw dampers in order to ensure smooth ride characteristics even at high speed. Traction device of the bogie is changed from multilayered rubber spring to Z link.
Traction unit and auxiliary equipments
The terminal voltage of series-wound brushed DC traction motors, MT64,
is 750VDC to realize single unit system. The gear ratio is 5.19 to get
high traction force at starting and wide speed range of regeneration braking.
Four traction motors of class kumoha211-6000 are controlled by the armature-resistance
traction control system, C-CS59A, featuring field added excitation control.
At the armature voltage control stage, armature resistance control and
series-parallel control are applied. At the field weakening stage, field
added excitation system, C-HS64, indirectly controls the electrical current
of field by controlling the electrical current of inductive shunt. Forced
field control by C-HS64 realizes regenerative braking. At low-speed range,
the voltage of regeneration keeps by applying series-parallel control.
If the regenerative brake is not sufficient, additional brake is provided
by pneumatic friction brake. Class kumoha211-6000 vehicles are equipped
with a diamond-shaped current collector, C-PS24A, on their roof. They are
also equipped with an auxiliary power unit, C-SC27, with a power output
of 90kVA and a motor driven air compressor, MH3094-C1000ML. The brake system
is the electric command pneumatic brake.
Accommodation
Seating is longitudinal throughout. Luggage rack of 211-5000 series is assembled by stainless pipes, although 211-0 series is aluminum wire-netting. The inside of the doors is covered with a decorative plate Their sets are not equipped with toilets.
Additional delivery
JR Central additionally delivered six 2-car sets of 211-6000 series in 1991. They differ from former 211-6000 series in fix windows changed from drop windows and improved air conditioner, C-AU711D-G4, fitting with loudspeakers inside.
Improvement
Some longitudinal seating of Kuha210 was changed to the wheelchair space in 2002. The current collector was changed into the single-arm type, C-PS27 from 2006.
Operations
211-6000 series entered rural revenue services of Gotemba line in 1990. However, they are now used on the ordinary services of Tokaido line, and rural services of Gotenba and Minobu lines. |
