After the Taketoyo line was electrified in 2015, some Kiha75-200 Diesel
Multiple Unit (DMU) vehicles were introduced to the rural services of Takayama
line and Taita line in order to replace remaining former JNR-era DMUs,
including Kiha40, Kiha47, Kiha48. At this time, the steps at the doorway
were fitted. They feature heavy protection against snow and coldness and
are classified into -1200 sub-class.
Class Kiha75-1200 DMU trains are now used on the rural services of Takayama
line and Taita line. |
