In 1999, JR Central built additional Kiha75 series in order to provide
additional capacity for "Mie" rapid services and replace the
life-expired Kiha58 series vehicles used on "Kasuga" express
service linking Nagoya and Nara. They were classified into -200 sub-class.
Their difference over previous class Kiha75-0 is that the seat pitch is
reduced to 910mm to enlarge the door space. Switchable transverse seating
was changed into buckling type.
Additional headlights are fitted above the through door of the cab end.
The height of the body were reduced from 3965mm to 3630mm.
Class Kiha75-200 are used on the "Mie" rapid services and the
rural services of the Taketoyo line. |
